Kasi car culture

Where the kasi spins.

KasiRun is the home of township car culture: spinning, meets, builds, and the drivers and crews behind them. Send your ride, list your meet, get seen.

The scene

Speak the pad

The words you hear at every spin day and every meet. If you know them, you're already part of it.

Gusheshe

BMW 325iS · E30

The two-door BMW that made spinning what it is. Light, rear-wheel drive, and loud enough that the crowd hears it before they see it.

Spinning

The motorsport

Controlled spins and doughnuts at full lock, in a cloud of tyre smoke. The best drivers climb out and work the car while it's still turning.

The pad

Where it happens

The concrete arena behind the barrier. Crowd on the outside, car and smoke on the inside, and a stretch of rubber left behind after every run.

Citi

VW Citi Golf

Built in South Africa until 2009 and still everywhere. Easy to fix, easy to modify, and the first car a lot of builders ever touched.

Mags

Alloy wheels

The first thing people check. The right set of mags on the right stance can change how a whole car sits.

Smoke show

The finish

When the run ends and the pad disappears behind white smoke. It's what everyone films.

What we cover

From the pad to the parking lot

Four beats, all from inside the scene. Every story starts with a driver, a crew or an organiser who sent it in.

Spin days

Reports from the pad: who drove, what they drove, and the run everyone was talking about after.

Meets

Where the cars park up on a Sunday. Dates, towns and venues, listed by the people who run them.

Builds

Build sheets for the cars that deserve one: what's under the bonnet, what's on the wheels, and who put it together.

Faces

Drivers, mechanics, panel beaters, wrappers and crews. The people who keep the culture running.

Build sheet

Put your car on paper

Fill it in and watch your build sheet come together. When it looks right, send it to us on WhatsApp with your photos.

Opens WhatsApp with your build sheet typed out. Add your photos in the chat before you send.

Meets and spin days

What's on

Every listing here comes from the organiser. Send yours and we'll put it up with the date, town and venue.

Pad rules

Keep the culture alive

Spinning only survives if the people around it are safe. We don't feature anything that breaks these.

  • Spin on the padArenas and organised events only. Street spinning puts kids and neighbours in the car's path, and it's how events get shut down.
  • Crowd behind the barrierNobody stands on the inside of the pad. A good run is worth nothing if someone gets hit.
  • Sober behind the wheelDrink after you park, never before you drive.
  • Respect the kasiPark properly, keep the noise to the event, and leave the venue cleaner than you found it.
